BARBARELA

(WRADAR x TRIANA)
Chestnut Mare, flaxen mane and tail
Foaled May 7, 2006, star and two hind socks

BARBARELA looks to be the most talented jumping horse we have produced since
*DISCOTECA +/, double U S National Champion, Jumper and Working Hunter.  BARBARELA is the most outstanding of her age group in the free jump arena at one and two years, both over verticals and spread jumps.  BARBARELA shows innate understanding of how high and how wide, goes steadily down the line and is absolutely fearless in the fences she has faced.

See video of BARBARELA here.

Very trainable, easy to handle, outgoing, fearless, careful, started under saddle as a
three year old.  This year BARBARELA has been worked by the Master Horseman Jose Miguel Alejos (head colt starter for La Silla Jumping horses, Monterrey, Mexico).  BARBARELA is in training at Maplewood Stables and will be ready to show under saddle and over fences  for the 2012 season.

Future – could have an outstanding show career in-hand, under saddle, and certainly also in Dressage. We have already mentioned BARBARELA  shows significant jumping talent.  A special horse for a special rider.

BARBARELA like her dam TRIANA, is sweet and loving towards her handlers, seeks out the company of her people, and showed intelligence and sensitivity during her training.  BARBARELA moved up in her level of understanding and responding to cues so quickly that she amazes us with her steady, quiet responses.  BARBARELA has lovely form over fences.  She is brave and careful.

And, whenever you would wish to have a baby from BARBARELA, her pedigree
is a solid back up to her talent. BARBARELA has a classic pedigree, even within the classic Spanish Arabian lines.

Dam’s sire line to TABAL through MARMOL, *ESPERANTO and PICAZZO
Dam’s female line to *ELENA SSB through *JIALEAH and TRIANA

Tail female line to KADRANKA.  KADRANKA was a grey born at Sachny, in Poland, 1903.  Her sire was Koubeschan Ebni, d.b. and her dam Satrya, by Seglawi II out of Arabka.  She was imported by the Yeguada Militar in 1906 and died in 1916.

A time honored way to breed horses (and hounds also, says Llynn Lloyd of Red Rock Hounds) is the adage “let the sire of the sire be the grandsire on the dam’s side.

The sire of BARBARELA’s sire is the outstanding *ESPERANTO (MARMOL X CANTINERA II).  You will find a great deal of information on *ESPERANTO in the Que Pasa Magazine, summer ‘08.
*ESPERANTO is also the grandsire on the dam’s side, completing the circle of the “breeder’s formula”.

*ESPERANTO (MARMOL X CANTINERA II), 1983 Bay stallion, Stanley Ranch bred.  Successful show horse, Stallion in-hand, and High Score Halter Stallion of Wisconsin, also Champion English Pleasure. *ESPERANTO has offspring that are Champions in numerous disciplines.  *ESPERANTO, with his big MALVITO eyes, charisma, and  power of impulsion which fueled his big trot, left a legacy in both his sons and daughters.
*ESPERANTO was represented by his first and second foal crop for Stanley Ranch in the Pacific Coast Arabian Sport Horse Classic 1996 (First Sport Horse Show for Arabians).  Results :
First, Get of Sire, three filly foals at foot, including ROSETT, ROSE SR SWEET and RHUMMBA (full sister to WRADAR).
And second, Get of Sire with PASCION S and PICAZZO,
First in 2 year old Stallions, PICAZZO.
First in two year old mares and Champion mare, PASCION S.  PASCION S went on to produce Supreme Champion Sport Horse National Futurity stallion CZANTIAGO.

It is a rare pedigree to contain two crosses to *ESPERANTO, and in the proper order of the ‘breeder’s formula’.

CANTINERA II (MALVITO X URAL) 1961 Bay YM mare.  CANTINERA II was always known at the Yeguada Militar as the ‘Queen of Spain’, and the best daughter of MALVITO.  In BARBARELA’s pedigree you find CANTINERA II as dam of *ESPERANTO, also as the granddam of VARDULO (YM stallion posted to Stanley Ranch near Seville.)  CANTINERA II produced UVAL, PALMA REAL and SABLE, who all stood as stallions at the YM.  All three sired Spanish National Champions.
*ESPERANTO is the only son of CANTINERA II outside Spain.  Dave and Molly were able to purchase CANTINERA II at the age of 20 from the Yeguada Militar of Spain. *ESPERANTO was produced at Stanley Ranch in Spain when CANTINERA II was 23. He therefore was privately owned, and could be exported to the U SA.  The Yeguada Militar does not sell their stallions, and turned down a million dollar offer for GALERO.

These strong connections to the great CANTINERA II are balanced by the three crosses to MARMOL, (TABAL X ESCALA II) 1971 YM stallion, Chestnut, 16 hh..  You will find two lines to MARMOL as sire of *ESPERANTO and one line as sire of the great Hunt Mare *ELENA.

*ELENA (MARMOL X *SANDUNGA), 1983 bay mare, dam of *JIALEAH, great granddam of BARBARELA.  *ELENA earned her certificate as a Recognized Field Hunter with Los Altos Hounds, and was Dave Stanley’s favorite hunt mare.

*GALAXIA SSB +/ (NEGAL by GALERO X KADOFA by ZANCUDO), 1985 Grey mare bred by Stanley Ranch, was shown to the Canadian National Championship Working Hunter title (first in all three rounds), and Canadian National Top 10 Show Hack in 1992.  GALAXIA SSB +/ was hunted with Los Altos Hounds, and won the
blue in the Hunt Colors Class over the outside course at the Pacific Coast Arabian
Sport Horse Classic 1996, the first specialty show for Arabian Sport Horses.

GARBO (ORIVE X BALDOSA by MAQUILLO) 1965 Grey YM Stallion.  Premier Stallion at the YM for two decades, also used by Domecq.  GARBO was the first son of the fabulous BALDOSA (also dam of ZACATECO by JACIO).  GARBO has 1,200 offspring into the second generation.  The GARBO horses are known for their courage, stamina, and handsome physiques.  GARBO is sire of *PADRE, grandsire of GRANADA I, great grandsire of WRADAR

GRANADA I (*PADRE X *KIRAT II), 1985 Grey mare, dam of WRADAR, has been a Class A Mare Champion and a dam of sons that have been sires.  GRANADA I has hunted for several seasons and earned her Certificate as a Recognized Field Hunter with Los Altos Hounds.  GRANADA I produced several sons that have been used as stallions,
MADRID PF, MATADOR PF, MAXXUM PF, SI SI SAVVY and WRADAR.

JACOBITA (BARQUILLO X GHAZEL), was foundress of one of the most important Spanish lines.  (Article on the GHAZEL female line, published in Que Pasa a year ago),
A copy of the article available from Molly Stanley.

*KIRAT II (SALUDO X JACOBITA), 1967 Bay mare.  Dam of Spanish Reserve CH stallion TARIK, dam of ARRIBA I, DELICADA I. ELECTRA and SR RICO.  *KIRAT II was a fabulous mare, who produced fourteen offspring, with numerous Champions in several countries.  Read about *KIRAT II in ‘Horse Tales’ on www.stanleyranch.com.  *KIRAT II lived to the age of 37.

*JIALEAH (VARDULO X *ELENA), 1987 Bay mare. Dam of TRIANA (X PICAZZO).
*JIALEAH was hunted with Los Altos Hounds and Red Rock Hounds. She earned her certificate as a Recognized Field Hunter, following in the path of her dam *ELENA.

*PADRE (GARBO X YUCA), 1972 Grey Stallion.  *PADRE is Supreme Champion Stallion of Spain and sire, grandsire, great grandsire of Spanish Champion Stallions. Sire of ABUTIG, Supreme Champion Stallion who founded a dynasty at Domecq.  *PADRE is sire of National and Supreme Champions in 4 countries.  *PADRE has one hundred seventeen offspring, who possess Championships, as the Arabians would say, “Like stars in the sky, too numerous to count.”  Sire of GRANADA I.

PICAZZO (*ESPERANTO X *GALAXIA SSB +/), 1994 Bay, 16 hand stallion,
Big, beautiful moving Champion 2 year old Stallion of the Pacific Coast Arabian
Sport Horse Classic and Top 10 Scottsdale Hunter Pleasure. BARBARELA’s grandsire.

SALUDO by MAQUILLO was mated to BIZANCIO II, daughter of MALVITO
to produce *KIRAT II, and also her full siblings, Supreme Spanish Champion MIZAR, Spanish Champion Mares NAPULIA and PALESTINA.  The tail female line is to GOMARA, dam of GANDHY.  Don Luis Ybarra named GOMARA as his greatest mare.

TRIANA (PICAZZO X *JIALEAH), 1998 Bay mare, has been a recognized Field Hunter with Los Altos Hounds, as has her dam *JIALEAH (VARDULO X *ELENA by MARMOL).  Jumping talent prevails in this family of Arabian Sport Horses.

VARDULO (PACHAKA X LADRONA by ZANCUDO), 1979 Bay YM stallion, sire of *JIALEAH, great grandsire of BARBARELA.  Stanley Ranch has some outstanding video of VARDULO, when he was posted to their breeding farm near Sevilla.

WRADAR (*ESPERANTO X GRANADA I), 2001 Bay stallion,  sire of BARBARELA, is now a herd sire in Florida, and his young owner Hannah Wilkins is riding WRADAR in Three Day Events, which encompasses Jumping, Dressage and Cross Country phases.
WRADAR’s granddam is *KIRAT II (SALUDO X BIZANCIO by MALVITO).

BARBARELA is SCID Clear, Ca N/N, priced at 12,500.
