HORSES FOR SALE
2008

Before we mention the horses available, we would like to say something about the nature of the Spanish Arabian.  Those of you who own them already know, so I will be brief.  The older we grow, the happier we are to have these horses.  They have intelligence, disposition and exceptional character.  Their beautifully balanced athletic bodies excel in many disciplines.  They are wonderful horses for amateurs. Delightful to look at, to ride, to show, and a double delight to see what good mothers they are to their babies.

The number of Classical Spanish Arabians remains small in comparison with the numbers of Arabians in this country and throughout the world, amounting to less than 1/10 of one percent. Classical Spanish mares have had great success when outcrossed, and many have left no Classical offspring.  Many have left no offspring at all, having gone to loving homes with people who were not breeders.  Spanish Arabians rarely change hands, as owners tend to keep them throughout their lives.
Here at Stanley Ranch, we have customarily sold what few we have available.  Our horses have gone to worthwhile homes for breeding and show.  Many have gone home to previous buyers of our horses over the past twenty five years.
In recent years, many horses (eight in the past two years) have gone to new owners ‘sight unseen’, with our guarantee of complete satisfaction. We enjoy suiting the right horse to the right owner.  In this busy age, that method can work well for all parties.
If you wish to visit, we extend an invitation for you to make an appointment for a tour to see the youngsters, their sires and dams, and sometimes the grandsires and granddams.  Molly and Dave also keep complete photographic records of all Classical Spanish Arabians they have owned and bred over the years, here and in Spain, which amounts to about five hundred horses.  The ones they imported to the USA number ninety-nine.
At this time, the Stanley Ranch breeding program is fully mature, and we remain with about thirty Spanish Arabians, because we can’t imagine being without them.  Our former National Champions, dams of National Champions and Recognized Field Hunters have been ridden, shown and hunted out by our family of amateur owners.  We aim to raise horses with the temperament and basic good sense suitable for amateur riders to enjoy.  These mares are now our broodmares.

We all know that the foundation of all breeding programs begins with great mares.

Mare lease terms:
The mare is maintained at the Stanley Ranch on grass pastures with our other horses.  The mare will be covered until conception for your foal. The mare will be watched at foaling time, your baby will be delivered, imprinted, and given basic halter and ground work when appropriate.  At  approximately four months, your foal will be weaned.  The foals are welcome to remain another two weeks, or longer if arrangements are made to do so.  Any vet costs for the foal will be yours.  We have been lucky with these horses and keep them in a healthy place in good condition.  The normal vet costs have been the necessary immunizations.
